Naperville & Plainfield Maternity Photographer

There’s something extra special about documenting baby number two.

The excitement is different. The calm is different. And usually… there’s a tiny best friend involved who is very interested in the baby bump for approximately 14 seconds before asking for snacks.

This beautiful studio maternity session with Tara from Summer Brader Photography was the perfect mix of relaxed, modern, and meaningful. With soft natural light, neutral tones, and space for both connection and movement, the studio created the dreamiest setting to celebrate this growing family before they become a family of four.

Why Studio Maternity Sessions Are Perfect for Growing Families

When clients are expecting their second baby, life is already busy. Between naps, activities, work schedules, and keeping a toddler happy, studio sessions can make everything feel easier.

No worrying about weather.

No muddy parks.

No freezing cold Chicago wind pretending to be “fall vibes.”

Just a warm, clean space where everyone can relax and focus on being together.

Tara’s studio maternity sessions are designed to feel natural and comfortable while still creating elevated, timeless images that families will love for years.

Including Siblings in Your Maternity Session

One of our favorite parts of maternity sessions for baby number two is watching older siblings interact with mom’s growing belly.

Some toddlers are sweet and cuddly.

Some are wild cards.

Some alternate between both every 30 seconds.

And honestly? That’s the magic.

We never expect little ones to sit perfectly and smile at the camera the entire time. Instead, Tara focuses on connection, movement, and creating space for genuine moments that actually reflect this season of life.

Those tiny hugs, curious looks, and little in-between moments often become the images parents treasure most.

What to Wear for a Studio Maternity Session

For studio maternity sessions, we always recommend keeping outfits simple, neutral, and comfortable.

Soft creams, warm whites, black, beige, denim, and earthy tones photograph beautifully in the studio and keep the focus on emotion and connection rather than distracting patterns or colors.

Flowy fabrics, oversized button-downs, fitted dresses, and cozy textures all work beautifully for the relaxed, editorial feel Tara is known for.

When Should You Book Your Maternity Session?

The ideal time for maternity photos is typically between 28–34 weeks. At that stage, your bump is beautifully visible while you’re usually still comfortable enough to move around easily during your session.

We highly recommend booking early, especially for spring and fall due dates, as schedules tend to fill quickly throughout Naperville, Plainfield, Downers Grove, and the surrounding western suburbs.
